What software are you using, because it doesn't sound like a very good one (No offense)

The piano sounds short, you should have it sustained, and the drums are really sucky, if you are using presets... don't. i made that mistake, they are obvious and sound terrible, especially for a sad song :(

Over-all this could use a lot of work, but that may not be possible if you are not using a good software like FL studio or garage band, ect.

Lone-X responds:

I used FL studio and most is done with fl studio's main plugins. The drums are just from one of hundreds of drum samples I have that I thought would fit with it. I think it sounds nice. Nothing is preset as well, I've fiddled with everything the way I liked.

This is a really repetitive song for a loop, if you cut out some of the repeats, and made it shorter, it would be better, and it wouldn't matter because it's a loop anyway. I do have to say that it loops surprising well, and it sounds great, i just kept waiting and waiting for something new to be added to the song all the way to 1:45 in to the song, which is not a good music habit.

Shadowaves responds:

Hi, thanks for the review !
You probably right, I'll be more careful about the repeats in the future.
And this is funny that you said that it miss something new until 1:45, I don't wanted to add something because, after some tests, it was simply too much (in terms of sounds) , well, I'll try to do better next time !

In all case, thanks for your advice =)

Dude, woa. I only have one problem. it sounds... how do i put this. (I honestly don't know if this is correct terminology) Fuzzy, but that may be on purpose, or from the program your using. anyway amazing dude. and thanks...

Im sorry, but this isn't your song, even if you give him credit, you still can't post it on here in the audio portal. It's not your song to put out there.

Even though it took a while for the first drop i was lead along with the addition of different instruments and stuff. Around 45 the song sounds really Epic, like walking away from explosions. and over-all the song sounds really good

This is really cool, but i gave 3 stars to motivate you to continue this project! :)

Quiet start, and i was fiddling with the volume, but it was cool. i like all the different sounds, this describes insomnia perfectly! I think that the instruments sounded really cool, may i ask what you did to get that amazing piano? Anyway, i think the drums should have gotten louder around 1:50-2:00, because you can barely hear them. i would put them up just enough to have them break through that 'Background' wall that seems to happen with anything quieter than 50%, but since they die down later, it isn't that imperative. i think you could have added some sort of base after 3:40, just to give it a little richness for the second round of the theme. I like the alarm clock at the end, but it would have been cool to have a happy note right before it completely dies away, like the sunrise, but these are just my ideas to make it better. in all reality it's not my piece so if you think it would be better how it is, i can't judge. Just to let you know though, i'm not an NGUAC judge, i just had 10 minutes to kill XD!

Thank you for your tips! I really appreciate it!

I assume that by "drums" you mean the clock ticking or maybe the clock ticks' reverb.
I was trying to create a feeling that is like an Alpha state, or how they call that, you know when you are still hearing noises in your room or maybe from outside from the streets, but at the same time you also see some pictures in your head, and the reality and your dreams starting to melt together, and when the clock ticking kind of transforms into this reverby ticking and dreamy piano thing, at that point you are already in Alpha state, so that's why the reverb.

Yes I agree with you about the second part, first time I wanted to add something to it, but I wanted to keep this song as consistent as possible (consistent about the volume levels I mean), I didn't want to make the second part so different because it may bother this "dreamy state" that the listener might be in while listening till the wake up part of the song, and then fall asleep at last after killing the alarm. :)

The piano is 3 instances of the EWQLSO Silver Stenway B piano. I had to use 3 instances not because of layering or something like that, but because of the need of the control of the different voices. Originally I wanted to use 4 instances but unfortunatelly my oldish laptop's CPU didn't like that idea. Although the piano's sound quality is very nice for certain styles (especially for quieter long notes in my opinion) , it has only 5 or maybe 6 different velocity levels (different tones, ordered by volume level), so I had to use different volume settings and automation for the different piano voices, and although it's far from perfect I think, but I'm OK with this result for now. I'm not quite a mixing master or "automation-magician" yet.. :)

I might change the return-part later, thanks for the confirmation!

(and sorry for my bad English)

and have a nice day! :)
